The Daily Show Takes on the Army with Operation Black Hair

As many of you know the Army recently revealed new regulations, Army Regulations 670-1 stating that Black women pretty much cannot wear their natural hair. Hair must be either corn rolled, relaxed, in a weave or wig. Well The Daily Show’s Jessica Williams takes them on with “Operation Black Hair.” Pure hilarity ensues.

I protested against the military’s rules against Black women wearing their natural hair and no one listened to me. It is ridiculous that other races of women can wear their hair proudly because they have a looser hair texture but not Black women? Now that isn’t fair.

Yeah, funny…. I think that if, the army can’t give respect we need not go. If, they want to act like damaged beyond repair people I say treat them that way. This is the least of our worries when dealing with the military though. Rape and death by our fellow soldiers top the list for me. If, you want to find ways to serve the country find one that respects you first. Reciprocity or nothing!!! Hold all to the standard. Sides I ‘ll be just fine not volunteering to get shot at.

THIS IS INSANE. As soon as the natural hair movement got off the ground in a REAL way, all the sudden all these hair “rules” started happening.

The reason I KNOW this is bogus and shameful, is because back 20 years ago, when I was in the Army, I wore my hair natural EVERY DAY!! No one said JACK. There was a Jamaican-American girl who was in the military with me, who wore her hair in those same exact twists all over her head, so you know this is just bs coming to us by the packed pound!
Yes, sure, I’ve always known about the hair regulations, but there was no rules against wearing neat well kept hair that was natural as long a s it could fit under head gear and it was out of the way, t here w as no problem. The Military is clearly trying to discourage black women from wearing their natural hair,in the hopes they will break down and get nice little neat perms again.
I’m not buying this new hair thing bs because I was IN the military and saw black, mixed and Hispanic women wearing their hair kinky natural all the time?!
