Today is the 50th anniversary of the show that taught us to “boldly go where no one has gone before,” Star Trek. Star Trek was not only awesome, but ground breaking with its multicultural cast.

Everyone knows about the fabulous Nichelle Nichols as Lt. Uhura and Zoe Saldana who played Uhura in the recent movie. But did you know these Black actresses also appeared on the Star Trek shows and movies?

Leslie Silva as Danica Erickson on Star Trek Enterprise (2005)

Gabrielle Union as N’Garen on Deep Space Nine (1997)

Lark Voorhies as Leanne on Deep Space Nine (1995)

Vanessa Williams as Ardanis on Deep Space Nine (1996)

Debra Wilson as Lisa Cusak on Deep Space Nine (1998)

Alfre Woodward as Lily Sloan Star Trek: First Contact (1996)
