Wow. Today, singer, rapper, song writer, actress and mother of six children, Lauryn Hill was sentenced to three months in prison and three months home confinement for failing to pay a $1 million in taxes. This was less than 24 hours after she released her new single “Neurotic Society.”

Lauryn Hill could have faced a maximum penalty of three years in prison. She is scheduled to report to prison on July 8, 2013.

According to Associated Press, “The 37-year-old South Orange resident pleaded guilty last year in the case.

During a forceful statement to the judge, Hill explained she had always meant to eventually pay the taxes but was unable to during a period of time when she dropped out of the music business.”
